破烂陈旧的Metrotown天车站终于要升级了！Metrotown天车站即将进行一项$3.7千万的升级计划。建完后，新天车站将可以更有效的处理不断增长的乘客流量。
Metrotown天车站是在Metrotown购物中心兴建前建立的，建造天车站时并没有考虑到将来Metrotown附近的人口增长和全国第二大的购物中心Metrotown的成立。
现在Metrotown天车站是整个大温地区第二繁忙的车站，每天都有5万班次的架空列车经过。另外，Metrotown的巴士站每天也有2.5万的巴士流量。
天车站的升级包括将现有的Metrotown门前巴士站转移到天车站下面，方便乘客转车。
其它的升级包括：
- a new east station entrance with an expanded ground-level ticketing concourse, with new stairs and up/down escalators to the platform level;
- a new west station entrance with a staircase and up/down escalators to the platform level;
- a new staircase mid-platform, connecting to ground level at the central station entrance;
- the replacement of the original elevator with the installation of two new elevators at the new central station entrance;
- the installation of fare gates at all three station entrances;
- the expansion of station wayfinding signage, improved lighting, and additional customer amenities;
- the relocation of the existing Metrotown bus exchange and layover area to a new bus loop directly underneath the SkyTrain station, which will create a direct and quick pedestrian connection between the station and the bus exchange;
- a upgrade to the existing BC Parkway bicycle pedestrian path, between the new bus exchange and Beresford Street;
- a bike parking facility;
- and space for retail units.
虽然将巴士站移到天车站底下会更方便乘客，但是现有的空中行人通道将会被废除，所有的行人将来都需要过马路。这个可能会对交通带来不便，产生更多的汽车与行人之间的磨擦。
Metrotown天车站的升级计划预计会于2014年开始动工，并于2016年的夏天完成。
